The Idea:

What if educating Pacific Northwest homeowners about solar panels could feel like a fun backyard BBQ? For Lumio, I developed a Drunk History-inspired campaign, using quirky characters and humorous storytelling to engage homeowners while clearly communicating the benefits of solar energy.
For Lumio, the client sought a fresh, entertaining way to educate their sales team about promoting solar panel adoption. Inspired by the irreverent humor of Drunk History, I developed a concept that combined funny storytelling with quirky backyard BBQ characters to deliver compelling narratives about the benefits of going solar.

As an Art Director, I crafted a playful approach that leaned into humor while maintaining a clear focus on the client’s message. By creating eccentric characters and weaving their solar stories into exaggerated, memorable scenarios, we ensured the content would be engaging and relatable. The “lip-sync” effect became a central feature, amplifying the humor and setting the tone for the entire campaign.

As Director of Photography, I worked extensively on storyboarding to visualize each scene and plan the execution of the lip-sync effect seamlessly. From selecting dynamic angles to designing lighting setups that enhanced the quirky backyard BBQ vibe, my focus was on bringing the concept to life in a polished and visually entertaining way. The final result balanced humor and education, delivering a piece that captivated both the sales force and the client.
